Alphason

Initially Alphason Designs produced a range of specialist audio products mainly consisting of turntables, turntable tonearms and loudspeakers.  Designed to satisfy the requirements of the most discerning audiophile, these products soon created a strong following for the company amongst audio specialists.  This following culminated in the launch of the 'Symphony' turntable which received glowing acclaim in the international press.  The 'Symphony' turntable still enjoys that acclaim and has achieved almost cult status amongst the audio fraternity.  Similarly the HR-100S tonearm was considered to be one of the worlds' finest.

Alphason Designs' considerable experience in designing high performance audiophile products made the company realise there was a glaring need for quality audio furniture designed to ensure that the audio system is allowed to perform to its maximum potential.

To perform at its best, hi-fi requires a support system that is stable and free of external vibrations.  Meeting this requirement Alphason Designs launched a new concept range of audio furniture and loudspeaker stands, manufactured to a standard hitherto unavailable.

Continuing on the success of the original hi-fi range, Alphason Designs then developed 'Akros', additional products designed to meet the requirements of 'lifestyle' audio-visual systems.  The design criteria of the original audiophile products were applied to this new range, through the use of the unique tension rod structure and careful choice of materials, enabling the benefits of Alphason's design disciplines to be available to a wider audience.  The name 'Akros' was chosen from the Greek word meaning, extreme and topmost.

In line with the company policy of continuous improvement several new ranges of products have recently been introduced.  The 'A Series' is designed for the discerning audiophile to improve the performance of any equipment it supports.  The 'AD Series' has polished 'D' shaped safety glass shelving providing a practical solution for the hi-fi & vision enthusiast.  The aesthetics of these models are further enhanced by the options of coloured glass shelves and striking upright finishes to complement equipment design in any modern domestic environment.

Last year the company was bought by the Armour Group and is now part of Armour Home Electronics.
