Replacing the now discontinued Reference 8, the first NuForce mono block released in March 2005, the Reference 8.5 features the same circuitry as the Reference 9. However, with a smaller 100w @ 8 ohm power supply (Upgradable). This amp will drive most speakers with ease. If you need a little more grunt or want more headroom, then opt for the Reference 9's with their 160w. Available now, for those with smaller rooms or more efficient loudspeakers the Reference 8.5 matches the Reference 9 in all way other than power output, a sure winner in any hi fi system. Featuring both balanced and single ended inputs, at the price point few can match its specification. For those used to Stereo power amps the world of the mono block needs exploring. Total channel separation projects a stunning and accurate musical image, enveloping the listener it the beauty and sonic definition.
